What to expect

Who comes

Who this is for

Women come to this work for two broad reasons. Very often, both are present at once.

Physical

I have helped clients understand and process core emotions relating to a wide spectrum of ailments such as PCOS, headaches/migraines, back pain, frozen shoulder, PMS, kidney stones, arthritis, spinal injury, adrenal fatigue, OCD, thyroid issues, occipital neuralgia and sciatica, to name a few.

Emotional
  • Anxiety and a mind that won't quieten
  • Low mood and bouts of depression
  • Fears and phobias
  • Grief and loss
  • Overwhelm, and a sense of losing control
  • Difficult childhood memories
  • Navigating toxic relationships
  • Betrayal
  • Navigating through separation and divorce
  • Addictions

If you are in crisis, or if what you're carrying needs urgent attention, please contact your doctor or your local emergency service. This work sits alongside medical and mental health care — never in place of it.

What you'll need on the day

Somewhere private and quiet where you can stand up and move about a bit, a device with a camera you can prop up, hands-free, so I can see you, a glass of water, and an hour where nobody needs you.

We'll agree the time, I'll send the link about 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

Step by step

The Framework

Step by step taken at your pace, meeting you where you are, with gentleness and compassion.

  1. We begin with a conversation

Everything starts with a free twenty-minute discovery call. You tell me a little about what's brought you here; I explain how this work might help and answer whatever you'd like to ask. If it feels right, we book your session on that call and I'll confirm everything to you in writing.

Once the session is scheduled, I'll send you a short intake form. There's no need to prepare an account of your life — just what's present for you now. I use it to prepare, reviewing what you've shared and drafting a tailor made plan for your session.

  2. Realigning the body

Realigning the body through focused attention therapy, where we gently allow your nervous system to move into safety. Much physical discomfort eases here alone. This allows reconnection of mind, body, emotions and nervous system.

  3. Creating awareness

We identify hidden emotions, stress patterns, trauma and root causes.

  4. Freedom

We release emotional burdens, limiting beliefs, survival patterns and unhealthy relationship cycles.

  5. Inner healing

We restore emotional regulation, self-worth, safety and feminine balance

  6. Yielding transformation

Create healthier relationships, improved well-being, peace in the home and long-term life transformation.

  7. Authentic living

Live from wholeness instead of survival mode.

  8. Carrying it forward

At the end of each session, you will receive guidance for the days following the session. Post-session self-care matters as much as the session itself: A salt bath, daily grounding, journaling for the emotions, feelings and memories that surface, breathwork. I calibrate this to what you can realistically carry — there's no point setting you tasks that add to the weight.

You can reach me between sessions with updates or questions, and we'll usually meet weekly for the first 3 to 6 sessions, although this is flexible and your personal needs are taken into account every step of the way, with no obligation.

How this approach sees it

The body keeps the record

Many women are surprised by how directly physical discomfort and emotional weight are connected. In this approach, the body is understood to file what the mind sets aside — and to file it in particular places.

The liver

is associated with anger — the kind that was never safe to voice.

The kidneys

with fear, and the long habit of bracing for what might come.

The lungs

with grief — everything that was never fully mourned.

Around the heart

with hurt, and separation from those we love.

These associations are how Aafiyah Healing understands the body. They are the modality's framework rather than established physiology, and they're offered here as a way of working, not as medical fact.

The days after

After your session

Healing asks for time and commitment, and the days after a session are where much of the work quietly continues.

Your self-care will usually include a salt bath, grounding each day, and keeping a journal — noting anything that rises, however small or strange it seems. Completing these matters. It's what carries the momentum into the next session.

For lasting change, I'd suggest planning for at least three sessions. That's guidance about how this work tends to settle, not a commitment you need to make now — many women start with one and decide from there.

If you're already working with me, you'll get a reminder the day before, along with a check-in on anything you've noticed and how the self-care has gone.

If it feels like a step back

Sometimes a difficulty flares, or you move through what's called a healing crisis. This is normal. It isn't a reason to cancel what's ahead, and it isn't a sign that this isn't working.

Tell me fully and honestly, and we shape the next session around where you actually are.

On memory

Memory cannot be erased, and this work doesn't attempt it. What changes is your relationship to it — the aim is that you can revisit the past without being triggered by it in the way you once were. The event stays. The charge is what we work with.

Questions

Questions women often ask

No. There's no praying involved, and I'm not reciting anything over you. I know that's often what people assume, so I'd rather say it plainly at the start.

What I'm actually doing is working with the body's innate intelligence to release physical tension and the emotions held underneath it. If anything feels unclear while we're going, just ask. I have a PDF explaining how and why Focused Attention Therapy works.

Aafiyah Healing is grounded in Islamic principles, but it isn't derived from the Qur'an or Sunnah and it doesn't claim to be. It's a therapy model with a name given to it — it doesn't interfere with any Islamic ruling or practice, and it isn't a religious obligation in any form.

My own faith is central to how I work and it comes into the sessions naturally, but you don't need to share it for this to help you. Nothing here replaces your prayer, your dua or your relationship with Allah.

We'll talk briefly first about what's brought you and where you're feeling it. Then I'll usually offer a realignment — you'll be standing, fully clothed, for up to about half an hour while I work on your posture focusing on your hips, spine and shoulders.

Your body may move on its own during this. People sway, fold forward, sometimes need to sit down. It's completely normal and I'll stay with you through it. Some people get emotional, some feel warm or cold, some yawn constantly. You can move or stop whenever you want.

If emotions come up, we'll sit and work through them.

No. This is one of the things I most want people to know: Aafiyah Healing doesn't need your story. It works with the feeling rather than the events, so you can release something without ever describing it to me.

If you do want to talk, I'm here for that too — but it's your choice, every time.

No, and that isn't the aim. The memory stays. What changes is the charge on it — you can think about it without your body, mind and heart reacting the way it does now. People often describe it as being able to look back at something instead of falling into it.

No. Please keep taking anything your doctor has prescribed and keep your appointments. I'm not medically qualified and I can't advise on medication at all — that's between you and your doctor.

Because being in a safe place allows emotions to surface that have been waiting to be acknowledged. It's not a sign anything's gone wrong — it's usually a sign something's shifting. You don't need to explain it or apologise for it.

That's a healing crisis, and it's a recognised part of the process rather than a sign it hasn't worked. It can be a few days of headache, aching, or feeling flat and low. Keep hydrated, rest, journal, and have a salt bath — that's often the turning point.

Do get in touch if it's worrying you. It's not a reason to stop.

I generally suggest at least three, and I'd rather be honest about why. One session often brings real relief, but it tends to be the surface layer. What holds is the work done over a few sessions, alongside what you do at home between them.

Some people need more, some need fewer. I'll keep checking in with you rather than working to a set number, and I'll tell you when I think you're in a good place to stop.

No — all my sessions are online, by video call. It genuinely makes no difference to the work: none of what I do needs me to be in the room with you, or to touch you at all.

It also means I can work with women anywhere in the world, which matters. A lot of my clients would struggle to find someone local they felt comfortable with.

Yes, and I work with women all over. We'll just find a time that suits us both — tell me where you are and I'll fit around you where I can.

Somewhere private and quiet where you can stand up and move about a bit, a hands-free device with a camera you can prop up so I can see you, a glass of water, and an hour where nobody needs you.

Some people don't, and that's genuinely fine. Tapping suits some and not others. If it isn't doing anything for you on your own, we can do it guided in a session and see if that changes it — and if not, there are other tools. Nothing here is one-size-fits-all.

Very common, and nothing to do with hunger. It's just energy moving where it's needed. Nobody minds.

That's fair enough — I'd rather you were sceptical than take my word for it. Most people come because something hurts. Trust the process because you have an option to live a life that is free from mental, emotional and physical pain.

No, and I wouldn't trust anyone who did. What I can tell you is what the process involves, and that I'll be honest with you if I don't think I'm the right person to help.

No — and I say that gently, because I know how much you want someone to tell you. It isn't my place, and honestly you shouldn't make a decision that big from where you're standing right now.

What I can do is help you clear the fog, so that when you do decide, you're deciding from a settled place rather than an overwhelmed one. Alongside that I'd say pray Istikhaara, and speak to an Imam you trust.

I'm a certified Aafiyah Healing practitioner. It's a holistic therapy — energy work and emotional release — and it's a combination of healing and coaching. You heal from the past and move forward with coaching.

Most of the people I see have. Often they've been through the medical route, been told everything's clear, and been left with the symptom anyway. That's usually where I start.
